Eligibility criteria of the SASSA SRD R370 grant.

The individuals qualify for the SRD grant if they are South African citizens, permanent residents, or refugees and meet one or more of the following conditions: 

• They are awaiting payment of an approved social grant.
• They have been medically certified as unfit to work for less than six months.
• The breadwinner of your family is deceased, and you must apply within 12 months of the death.
• They cannot receive maintenance from a parent, child, or spouse who is legally obligated to pay it.
• The breadwinner has been admitted to a state-funded institution, such as a prison or hospital, for a short period.
• They have been affected by a declared disaster, such as a flood or fire.

What is the Complete Process of SRD Status Check?

There are five ways to check the SRD Status; the quickest and easiest are via Phone Dial and Online Check.

Via Online

• Visit the sassa.srd.gov.za
• Put your Credentials, ID Card, and registered phone number.
• Click on “Status Check”, and boom, the available status will appear on the screen.

Via Phone Number

• Pick your Phone.
• Go to Dial, and type *120*69277# 
• Select the ‘balance’ inquiry option.
• Provide your ID Card and registered phone number.
• After completing the prompts, the available balance will appear.

How do I submit an appeal if my SASSA application was declined?

If the SRD status is declined, submit an appeal for reconsideration within 30 to 90 days of the decline. Below is the step-by-step guide to submit SASSA status check appeal applications for R370 and  R350 online. You can appeal for the grant in multiple ways: via customer support, WhatsApp, post office, or by visiting the SASSA office. If you don’t want to see the office in person, submit the appeal online using the following steps.

SASSA R370 SRD grant online Appeal Procedure

• Visit the official DSD SRD appeal website: sassa.gov.za.appeals
• There will be two options: ‘Lodge an Appeal or Check Status’.
• Select any of them.
• Provide your credentials, ID card, and phone number.
• After entering the details, you will receive an OTP; paste it.
• Pick the latest month for the SASSA appeal (October).
• They will ask for the reason, provide the reason of appeal with the required documents, i.e, (Bank records, pay slips, etc).
• Once you provide all the required documents, click on Submit Appeal to complete the process.

The SASSA appeal takes 1-3 months to be approved. At the same time, the Social Relief of Distress Grant appeal takes weeks to be approved, which is faster than the everyday SASSA appeal.

Why Is There a Long Pending Status on My SASSA SRD Application?

The submitted SRD appeal takes some weeks to be approved because SASSA verifies it against many records, and there are so many applications daily, which take time to review. The information is verified with the following government departments.

SASSA reference number check online

The SASSA reference number check online can be done in the following way;

Online

• Navigate to srd.sassa.gov.za. 
• Look for the “Application Status” section.
• Enter details.
• Submit and view: Click submit to view your application status, including your Application ID (AppID). 
• Use the information: The Application ID displayed serves as your reference number. It can be used to track your R370 payment dates, SASSA status check appeal, or update your contact details.

How to Change the ‘Bank details missing’ status?

Once you submit the SASSA Status check and it shows the bank details are pending, you have to resubmit the bank details. The bank details can be changed by calling the SASSA customer support line, the WhatsApp number, or visiting the office. The following information will be needed to carry with you;

• Name of the Bank
• Bank Account Number
• Branch Name of the Bank
• Account Type, such as current or saving.

After providing the information, the application will be approved within 90 days. However, the application is not only dependent on the bank details; it can also be rejected if you do not fulfill the other requirements.

If you don’t have a bank account, select the cash send option to receive payment.

Why have I not received my SASSA money yet?

SASSA sends money to beneficiaries on different dates throughout the month. Below are the reasons if you do not receive the payment on the stated date.

• SASSA has not yet processed the payments, so that the beneficiaries will receive them shortly for the SRD R370 grant.
• If you receive cash via cash pay points, there may be issues which may delay transactions.
• If you have opted for the post office branch, the agency will delay your payments. It has been reported that some branches lack sufficient funds for transactions.
